Our Story
Get to Know Us
We are Cami and Chloe Blount, two sisters from Ludlow, Vermont, inspired to fundraise and help those battling cancer after one of our elementary school teachers passed away from cancer in 2016. Last year, our fundraising took a very personal path when Chloe was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Originally, we wanted to do something to find a cure for cancer and now we’ve expanded our fundraising to help those with diabetes too.
We combined our love for skiing with a fundraiser to help people with these horrible diseases and in 2017 started Runs4Research (R4R). Support from our community, friends and family has been important and teamwork remains key.
R4R is a daylong, family-friendly ski and ride event held at Okemo Mountain Resort, followed by an après ski and ride event with food, beverage, awards and silent auction. All proceeds benefit cancer and diabetes research.
Thanks to the many volunteers, sponsors and donors, R4R has raised over $100,000 in the past eight years and this summer, we turned R4R into a 501(c)(3) charitable organization to help raise more money and help even more people.
Our Mission
Our vision with Runs4Research is to help defeat cancer and diabetes by raising funds to support research and put an end to these two horrible diseases. According to the National Institute of Health in 2023 there were almost 2 million new cancer cases and over 600,000 cancer deaths were projected to occur in the United States between 2023-2024. Also, in the US over 38 million people suffer from diabetes and in 2021 there were over 100,000 deaths in which the underlying cause of death was diabetes. It seems that everyone we know has been or will be impacted by cancer or diabetes. Our mission is to help everyone.
